1840 With the signing of The Treaty of Waitangi, The Crown named the land Herald Island

1847 Samuel Allen Wodd- first European owner

1893 First Post Office

1897 Devonport Steam Ferry Co Ltd. buys Island

1946 Boat club established

1949-1953 First School at 57 Ferry Parade

1954 -1958 Second School at 80-88 Ferry Parade

1961 Fire Brigade get warrants to fight fire

1951 'Pop' Sindlin first Father Christmas in Christmas parade

1955 Power On

1958 Causeway opened by Mr Norman King, MP for Waitemata

1961 Water connected
