Welcome to Jetsetter, a monthly publication devoted to all things travel. Whether it's tips on packing, flying, cruising, backpacking or venturing off the beaten path, you'll find it here.

This month, we're taking a look at the new, ethical, socially conscious OE – volunteering abroad.

It’s the new wave OE; not just about packing a bag and hopping on a plane, but making a difference in overseas communities.

Whether it's saving animals, teaching English, building huts or mentoring, working overseas can be incredibly rewarding, not to mention an eye-opening experience that can make you more attractive to employers.

One of the easiest ways to plan your trip is through one of the numerous organised programmes out there, especially if it's your first time.

Whether you're still studying, a recent graduate, or in an entirely different situation, there are opportunities for people with all kinds of skills and talents.

We talk to people who’ve been there, done that and lived to tell the tale. So if backpacking aimlessly around the world doesn’t appeal to you – if you want a more structured and rewarding experience, here’s how.
