in the last few years, with the release of the underground
documentry Burma VJ this year, the monks Saffron
Uprising in 2007, the continued home detention of
Aung Sun Suu Kyi and the devestating Cycolne Nargis
that hit Myanmar in 2008.

While this website is by no means a comprehensive
account of the long and complicated political, religious
and military histroy of Myanmar, it should provide a general
outline and some references for further investigation.
